About Me…

Describe what you do:
I not only love Junior High students, I actually like them too! I couldn’t do any other job in the world and feel that it is such a privilege to be working in such a wonderful church. It is also my privilege be able to work with our college students here at Riverland Hills! Things I LOVE about my job: 1) watching God change lives, 2) building relationships with students and volunteers, and 3) all of the food I get to eat.

How long have you been in Columbia?
I have been in Columbia/Irmo for 4 years but I haven’t learned the Okra Strut so I don’t consider myself local quite yet. I originally come from Burlington, NC and graduated from the only Carolina I care about—East Carolina University (Go Pirates!). I am also finishing my Masters of Divinity at Columbia International University (I am not sure what their mascot is).

Top 5 favorite dead guys/gals?
My “Granny”, C.S. Lewis, The Inventor of fried food, Martin Luther, and whoever invented the game of disc golf.

Top 5 favorite among the living?
I just can’t get excited about a lot of famous people so: 1) My wife Jen, 2) My Family: Mom, Dad, Abbey and Wesley and 3) Guys I have been friends with since middle school and still go on vacations with: Josh Riggsbee, Tyler Roach, Mitchell Smith, and Taylor Dobbs.

Without these people I would not be who I am today and would never have experienced the kind of deep community God allows us to experience through friendship.

What is on your iPod top 25 list or in your CD player right now?
Shane and Shane is my favorite music to worship to. As far as music to get me pumped up, it is Classic Rock all the way.

What are you currently reading other than the Bible?
Haven’t had time to read a lot lately because of school so here are a few of my favorite reads: The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings: JRR Tolkien, The Old Man and the Boy: Robert Ruark (little known book about growing up in the South hunting and fishing—great book!), Anything by C.S. Lewis, and I’m Just Here for the Food: Alton Brown.
